Making Four-Up Acrobat PDF from a Web Site

  1. Configure Adobe Printer driver for embedding fonts
    1. => Printers => Adobe pdf => right click => properties => printing preferences
    2. Uncheck do not send fonts to adobe pdf
    3. Uncheck rely on system fonts
    4. => Layout => advanced
    5. Set true type font to download as soft font
    6. Expand PostScript Options
    7. Set PostScript Output Option to Optimize for Portability
    8. Set True Type Download Option to Automatic
    9. Set PostScript Language Level to 2
    10. => ok => ok
    11. Now back on "Adobe PDF Properties" screen
    12. => Printing preferences => default setting => edit
    13. => General
    14. Set Auto rotate pages to Off
    15. => Fonts
    16. Check Embed all fonts
    17. Uncheck subset embedded font when percent
    18. No fonts listed in either always include or always exclude
    19. If not already in swine01, use => save as swine01xxx
    20. => ok
    21. Should now be back to "Adobe PDF Printing Preferences
  2. Prepare site by removing all alt= attributes from img tags
  3. In acrobat
    1. make sure => advanced => use local fonts is checked
    2. make sure => preferences > page display => use local fonts is checked
  4. In acrobat new => create pdf => from web page. (or click Create pdf => from web page)
    1. Get entire site
    2. => Settings
      1. => General
      2. Check create bookmarks
      3. Uncheck all others on general tab
      4. => click html => settings => general
      5. Uncheck all boxes in background options (this will suppress page background colors
      6. Check wrap lines
      7. Check convert images
      8. => Fonts and encoding => Language specific font settings => change
      9. Set Font for body text to Franklin Gothic Book
      10. Set Font for Headings to Franklin Gothic Book
      11. => ok
      12. Now back on "HTML Conversion Settings" "Fonts and Encoding"
      13. Set base font size to 10
      14. Check Embed platform fonts when possible
      15. => ok
      16. Now back on "Web Page Conversion Settings" "General" tab
      17. => click plain text => settings => general
      18. Check wrap lines at margin. All other boxes unchecked
      19. => Fonts and Encoding => Language Specific Font Settings => change
      20. Set "Fonts for Text" to Franklin Gothic Book
      21. => ok
      22. Now on "Plain Text Conversion Settings" "Fonts and Encoding"
      23. => ok
      24. Now on "Web Page Conversion Settings"
      25. => Page layout
      26. Set all margins to one inch
      27. Check scale wide contents to fit page
      28. Uncheck switch to landscape
      29. => ok
      30. Now on "Create PDF from Web Page"
      31. => Create
  5. Result will be one-up
  6. Wait until finished
  7. File => print
    1. Do not select write to file. This driver automatically creates a file
    2. Select Adobe PDF
    3. => Properties
    4. Make sure Swine01 showing in default settings
    5. Make sure all of the above settings are still active
    6. => ok
    7. In page handling set page scaling to multiple pages per sheet - pages per sheet to 4
    8. => ok
    9. Will prompt for file name
  8. Close everything
  9. Make word document of title page and copyright page
  10. Convert word document to one-up two page pdf by printing to pdf
  11. In acrobat concatenate title page pdf and 4-up web site
  12. In acrobat combined title page and 4-up file previously made
    1. => document => add headers and footers => footer
    2. In insert page number set page 1 of n
    3. In font set Franklin Gothic book
    4. Set font size (10)
    5. Click middle box under footer
    6. Type Page
    7. => insert in Insert page number box
    8. Type of
    9. Manually type final page number nnn
    10. Page << 1 >> of nnn should now appear in middle box
    11. Set bottom margin to 0.4 in
    12. => ok
    13. Verify that page numbers are ok, repeat if not ok
    14. Save without security for Lulu
