The Big Texan Steak Ranch Restaurant in Amarillo, Texas is the home of the free 72-oz. steak dinner.  The meal is free to anyone who can eat it all in one hour, including side dishes.  The dinner consists of a specially cut 72-oz. top sirloin steak, baked potato, salad, dinner roll and shrimp cocktail.  About 8,000 people have succeeded in completing the feat and joining the ranks of Big Texan Champions.  In addition to the free meal, winners receive a T-shirt, a souvenir boot mug and a certificate.  Winners have their photo added to the gallery of recent winners.  Their names go into the permanent List of Champions.

The free 72-oz. steak dinner is a road food classic. Concept, planning, and supervision by R.J. "Bob" Lee.
