Jeffrey Sward was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was educated at California State University Fullerton. B.M. Music 1975, B.A. Mathematics 1976, M.M. Music 1978. Studied photography at California State University at Fullerton, Newport School of Photography, Orange Coast College, Center for Photographic Art, Yosemite Workshop, and the Friends of Photography. Studied in workshops and seminars led by Ron Bayhan, Ted Orland, John Sexton, David Bayles, Michael Kenna, Ruth Bernhard, JoAnn Callis, Richard Misrach, and Robert Glenn Ketchum. Professional member of American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP). Jeffrey's photographs have appeared in various publications, such as 101 Places You Gotta See Before You're 12!, and have been exhibited in various museum shows such as: "Photograph As: Urban Scape/Rural Scape" Downey Museum of Art,

 
The Master of Music thesis Schoenberg's Pierrot Lunaire and Walton's Facade from a Conductor's Viewpoint by Jeffrey Sward is viewable at California State University Fullerton, the Indiana University School of Music, and the Arnold Schoenberg Center in Vienna, Austria. As of 2019, Jeffrey and Andrea Sward created the Jeffrey and Andrea Sward Double Reed Scholarship Endowment, California State University Fullerton, School of the Arts.
